British Premier League partners with Sorare
The British Premier League has partnered with Sorare. Users will now be able to purchase official NFT tokens licensed by the Premier League. Interestingly, such cooperation was not prevented by the decline in the NFT industry in 2022.
Despite the deterioration of the non-fungible token sector, this industry is still attracting interest from investors and market participants, and as we can see, the number of interesting partnerships is growing.
The first rumors of talks between Sorare and the Premier League emerged in October 2022. According to information released by Sky News, the deal could be worth £30,000,000 (~$37,125,500), but the owner of the NFT startup declined to comment on these details.
Sorare CEO Nicolas Julia said that a change in player character has been noticed on their platform. They are increasingly starting to use the “free mode”, in which they try to compete with game participants who do not have paid and, accordingly, more privileged cards. Nicholas said that more than 87% of gamers play matches without spending money on the game.
Sorare is a fantasy football where players collect player cards in the form of NFT tokens in various sports and compete against each other. The project is currently valued at $4,300,000,000 and has over 3,000,000 users. The new partnership agreement should improve the position of the creators of the NFT game.
In addition to a new partnership deal with top flight football in England, Sorare talked about adding two new features to their NFT game. Users now compete with each other in a “financially fair game” that matches an opponent based on the level of funds invested in the team. In addition, they can arrange competitions in specific leagues.
According to Nicholas Julia, Sorare is different from its competitors in the NFT space, and the total volume of card exchanges on their platform in 2022 exceeded $500,000,000. This figure is almost 2 times better than what the fantasy game showed in 2021. Then, on the Sorare platform, the trading volume was $270,000,000.
Experts from CryptoSlam found that Sorare is in the top 3 platforms for the largest NFT collections in the world, and the daily transaction volume exceeds 1,000,000 transfers per day.
Sorare were also involved in unpleasant situations. For example, the UK Gambling Commission has repeatedly reported that they are investigating this NFT project. The French National Gambling Authority has also joined the hunt for this startup. The latter obliged Sorare to introduce some changes before March 31st. Otherwise, the NFT game may lose customers from France and possibly lose contracts with some partners.
