NFT game Sorare may become a partner of the English Premier League
The British media are reporting ongoing talks between the English Premier League and the leaders of the sports-themed NFT game Sorare. The partnership will imply a license to use the Premier League in a crypto game and the use of real football players. Such a right will cost Sorare owners $34,600,000 per year.
Representatives of the blockchain firm ConsenSys wanted to achieve similar success, but they could not give such a generous offer as in the case of Sorare. The announcement of a partnership between the English Premier League and crypto game Sorare is expected within the next weeks.
British media say that cooperation may not be long-term. The reason for this conclusion was the case of the Sorare investigation by the UK Gambling Commission. The dark history of the multi-sport simulator does not end there. The Swiss gambling regulator has decided to blacklist Sorare due to suspicions about the project model, which is very similar to running a typical gambling business.
In addition, the assault on Sorare is also planned in the homeland of the NFT game, in France. There, Republican Senator Christine Lavard asked the gambling regulator to investigate Sorare, and the latter sent a request to the owners of the NFT game asking for all the necessary information.
The latest investment round brought Sorare's valuation to $4,300,000,000 as of September 2021. The Japanese holding company SoftBank invested the most money in the company.
Sorare is a typical card game. In the sports simulator, players compete against each other in three main areas: football, basketball and baseball. Just like in similar sports simulations, players buy cards with real actors in the sports industry, assemble teams from them and compete.
