Solana open pre-order for their crypto smartphone
Solana announced that they have opened pre-orders for a smartphone called Solana Saga. It will be available to residents of 33 countries.
The company also revealed that it costs $100 to get your place on the waiting list. However, this $100 will be reimbursed in the cost of the crypto smartphone. The latter will have a price tag of $1,000. The waiting list reservation fee will be accepted in USDC stablecoin.
The announcement of the opening of pre-orders appeared on Solana's Twitter account. The creators of the crypto smartphone noted that residents of such countries as the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Poland, Estonia, Great Britain, Australia, Finland and others will have the opportunity to pre-order.
Sales of Solana Saga are expected in early 2023. The developers of the crypto-smartphone did not say exactly when to expect the start of sales, however, based on the fact that it is already possible to reserve a place, we are close to the start of sales.
What will the Solana Saga crypto smartphone look like? The $1,000 phone will have a 6.67-inch display and be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The handset will come with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The main feature of the crypto smartphone will be embedded software based on the Solana Mobile Stack, which will be centered around the idea of security in the crypto space and opportunities in Web3. The framework presented by the developers of the crypto smartphone will allow mobile application developers to create the necessary programs related to Web3 technologies.
Solana is not the first company to develop a cryptocurrency smartphone. Earlier, HTC came up with the same idea, which made the HTC Exodus. As a result, Exodus turned out to be a rather weak smartphone that was not widely used, but its price was much less than what we will see with Solana Saga.
Besides the fact that Solana Saga will enable users to access the possibilities of Web3 technologies, the phone will be primarily focused on working with the Solana blockchain, which is quite obvious. Blockchain integration will allow users to seamlessly transact on this network, manage digital assets, and be on friendly terms with the Solana network.
According to Jason Keats, CEO of Solana Saga hardware company OSOM, the smartphone will bring you closer to the future everyone dreams of:
The world needs new hardware to embrace the future that is Web3, and building an ecosystem that looks to the future without being burdened by past legacy ecosystems is very exciting for us.
