23% of Chileans invest in cryptocurrencies

Representatives of Bain & Company shared the results of research they conducted in the field of studying the most popular investments in Chile last year. About 23% of residents opted for digital assets. This indicator is in the top 3 in popularity among investors in Chile.

The reason for this was the high rates of devaluation and inflation, which are typical for the countries of South America. In Chile, residents have begun to view cryptocurrencies as a deflationary asset and have begun shifting their financial savings to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies.

Thus, if the residents of Chile keep not Chilean pesos, but BTC, ETH or even stablecoins, then in this case they will be able to protect themselves from inflation.

In the first place remains the most common asset for investment, investment funds. More than a third of the residents who took part in the voting made their choice in his favor. In second place was an equally popular way to save your money - real estate. 24% of the surveyed investors gave their preference in favor of real estate.

One of the partners of Bain & Company sees nothing strange in this. According to Martial Rapela, the increase in the popularization of cryptocurrencies is the trend of the new time:

These numbers are in line with the trend we've been seeing lately in which digital currencies are becoming more and more popular given their high rate of return in certain cases.

It is noteworthy that other fairly popular areas for investment in the face of stocks and bonds have given way to the top 3 cryptocurrencies. According to a survey conducted by Bain & Company, only 21% and 19% of investors made their choice in their favor.

It is also worth mentioning that bitcoin ATMs appeared in Chile. So far, apparently, there are only 3 such devices, which are located in the capital of the country, Santiago.
