Game Producer NieR Expects the Dawn of the Metaverse Sector
Japanese gaming publication Famitsu recently interviewed NieR series producer Yosuke Saito, in which the latter talked about high expectations for 2023. According to him, the coming year will have to allow the metaverses to rise to an unprecedented level.
Saito believes that in 2023, we should expect releases of especially large blockchain games and, in general, see a big dawn of the metaverses. He refrained from any detailed comments, but expressed high hopes.
Yske is known for being interested in blockchain-based products for a long time. Last winter, he showed interest in creating video games with elements of non-fungible tokens.
Producer NieR is not the only Japanese video game developer to turn his attention to virtual worlds. Yoshinori Kitase, who served as the producer of Final Fantasy VII Remake, also talked about his hobbies related to blockchain technologies. In addition, the producer of another Japanese game, Dragon Quest, has joined the list of blockchain game fans. Noriyoshi Fujimoto is among the supporters of the development of the metaverses.
The development trend of blockchain technologies in the Japanese video game market is noticeable more and more often. In the summer of 2022, Square Enix Holding announced their plans to issue their own token. This can be further used in various titles that will be released from the pen of a video game developer.
In addition, the Japanese developer wants to try to solve the problems of scalability in economic zones in this way and influence the regulation of non-fungible tokens. Despite desires and some attempts, after the perfect announcement, Square Enix Holdings has not yet made any progress in its endeavors.
It is also worth mentioning Square Enix's statement regarding the decentralization of the world of cryptocurrencies and the possible decentralization of video games. In their opinion, this scenario should contribute to the world of computer games and significantly improve it. Square Enix noticed that more and more video games are moving away from the exclusive centralization model. According to them, players need decentralization of the game world.
Judging by the fact that Microsoft, who have a huge influence in the world of development of the computer games industry, have also begun to invest in the decentralization sector, they agree with what Square Enix is saying. Previously, Bill Gates' company invested in video game developers Wemade. The latter are known to have started to embrace blockchain technologies and may become one of the pioneers in the sector of decentralized big games.
Wemade was able to raise funds in excess of the $46,000,000 mark in the investment round. Not only Microsoft, but also Shinhan Asset Management along with Kiwoom Securities became investors. To achieve their goal, Wemade decided to sell convertible bonds. According to representatives of video game developers, it has become known that they want to play everyday games using blockchain technologies. In addition, they intend to create the Wemix token, which is intended to be the key currency in the gaming space.
