SK Gaming player Marcelo «coldzera» David became the player of the year according to The Game Awards. He bypassed Lee «Faker» Sang-hyeok (League of Legends), Byun «ByuN» Hyun Woo (StarCraft II), Lee «Infiltrator» Seon Woo (Street Fighter V) and Juan «Hungrybox» Debiedma (Super Smash Bros). The winner was determined by the user voting at the official website of the ceremony.
Cloud9 became the best esports organization, and Overwatch became the most popular esports discipline.
