Partner of NAVI and Astralis owes $35,000 to pro players
Crypto exchange Bybit, which is a partner of NAVI and Astralis, owes $35,000 to pro players. This was reported by robiin, a former Endpoint player, who spoke out after a post published in Esportal. As a result, some well-known pro players were involved in the case, including Brollan, WolfY, Peppzor and Jackinho.
Yesterday, Esportal released a message that Bybit is not honoring their deal and is refusing to pay out the prize money/NFT. We are unfortunate winners, and I want to clarify the situation from our point of view.
Esportal claims they have been doing everything for months to get in contact with Bybit and sort things out, but I really doubt that. They did not give us any information for several months, I corresponded with the contacts they gave us several times, sometimes several times a week, and they were never able to answer any of our questions regarding when we would receive our NFTs. After about 90 days, I instead sent a message to Martin, who apparently had no idea what was going on.
We had a meeting with Martin from Esportal about two weeks ago where he said that they would try to contact Bybit through their mutual partners and if that didn't work they would sue, where is it now? They tried to contact Bybit twice through Astralis and once through another partner with no success and all we get is an innocuous news post on the Esportal website?
We are all very disappointed with how Esportal is handling this and obviously even more disappointed with Bybit. If Bybit continues to ignore us, we believe that the prize money and ensuring that it is paid out is Esportals' responsibility as they run the tournament.
Probably, we are talking about the Esportal Bybit Open 2022 championship, which took place in July. The winner of the event was the fightclub team, which was represented by robiin, Brollan, WolfY, hns and Jackinho.
Note that Esportal representatives, in their defense, complained about the Bybit crypto exchange, which abandoned its obligations and did not pay the promised NFTs. However, the organizers said that they give up hope of contacting the sponsor and settling all differences with the participants.
