Rumors: Work has begun on the transition of CS:GO to Source 2
The information that CS:GO will make the transition to Source 2 has been circulating on the net for years, but so far such rumors have not materialized. Yesterday, a user with the nickname Aquarius posted on his page that he became aware that this week Valve began work on porting some of the most famous maps to the Source 2 game engine.
As evidence, the insider showed a screenshot, which shows that the name of the maps that Aquarius does not disclose ends with the prefix “_s2”, which, according to the author, symbolizes the optimization of the map for the new engine. Later, the user shared a list of cards, the processing of which has already been discovered.
For security reasons, he does not name the people who provided him with such information, however, he named a method to extract such data. This is the “added extended statuses” feature in Steamworks.
The list of reworked cards, according to an insider, now looks like this:
- ar_shoots_s2
- cs_italy_s2
- de_inferno_s2
- de_lake_s2
- de_overpass_s2
- de_shortdust_s2
