Warzone April 7 Patch Disables Snakeshot Ammo, Brings Back Bunker Buster Killstreak

Call of Duty: Warzone has rolled out a new patch on April 7, addressing major balance concerns by disabling the controversial Snakeshot ammunition and Thermal 6x Scope, while also reintroducing the Bunker Buster killstreak in both Resurgence and Plunder modes.

💥 Snakeshot Ammo Removed After Basilisk Meta Breaks the Game

The update appears to directly target the Akimbo Basilisk loadout, which had quickly become the latest overpowered meta. This setup allowed players to dual-wield Basilisks equipped with Snakeshot ammo — turning them into devastating close-range weapons capable of downing enemies in one or two shots.

Over the weekend, Warzone players flooded social media with clips of 30–40 kill matches using the loadout. That, paired with widespread complaints, was enough to convince developers something needed to be done — and fast.

As a result, both Snakeshot Ammo and the Thermal 6x Scope have been temporarily disabled across all modes. According to the official Call of Duty Updates account, the items were pulled while the team investigates the issues. A nerf is likely on the way — and not for the first time, as Snakeshot has disrupted the meta before.

🛒 Buy Station and Killstreak Changes

The patch also makes a quality-of-life adjustment to Battle Royale Trios, aligning the number of static Buy Stations with other squad sizes for consistency across modes.

Meanwhile, the Bunker Buster killstreak has been reintroduced in Plunder and Resurgence, giving players another explosive tool to turn the tide during mid- to late-game chaos.

🛠 Bug Fixes: Verdansk Clean-Up Begins

The return of Verdansk has been a major win for Warzone, driving a 65% increase in player count since March, according to SteamDB. However, the re-release has also brought its fair share of bugs.

One particularly frustrating issue involved collidable map elements that allowed players to peek or shoot through objects unfairly. Thankfully, the April 7 patch includes a fix for that exploit.

Another fix addresses a missing "squad wipe" notification in the killfeed, which left many players confused mid-match.

👀 What’s Next? Terminator Skin Nerf Incoming

While this patch tackled several immediate concerns, players are still waiting on a promised nerf to the Terminator Operator skin, which many say is too hard to spot in-game. The devs have acknowledged the problem and teased an upcoming "visibility adjustment" to improve enemy readability and "target identification."

📋 Warzone April 7 Patch Summary

Disabled (Global):

  • Snakeshot Ammunition
  • Thermal 6x Scope

Adjustments (Battle Royale):

  • Static Buy Station count in Trios now matches other squad sizes

Reintroduced (Plunder & Resurgence):

  • Bunker Buster killstreak

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed object collision issues in Verdansk that allowed unfair peeking/shooting
  • Fixed missing “squad wipe” notification in killfeed

With major nerfs, bug fixes, and returning killstreaks, Warzone's April 7 update is clearly aimed at stabilizing the meta and cleaning up Verdansk — just in time for more players to jump back in.
