The game will feature enhanced versions of all 16 original multiplayer maps from Modern Warfare 2, which was released in 2009.

Among them are: Afghan, Crash, Estate, Favela, Karachi, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland.

In the presented video, Sledgehammer Games' Art Director, Matt Abbott, and Design Director, Zak Hudson, discuss the process of updating the maps while striving to maintain their original style.

"There are some minor difficulty level adjustments to adapt them to modern gameplay," Hudson said, "but overall, they will remain true to their original design. The main changes involve balance and precision."

More detailed changes made to each map are described in a dedicated blog post.

Activision plans to fully unveil the multiplayer capabilities of Modern Warfare 3 at the upcoming Call of Duty Next presentation scheduled for October 5th.

The next day will mark the start of the first of two weekends for the Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer beta, exclusively available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The beta version of the multiplayer game will include updated maps and new features for the Ground War mode.
