From new biomes and mobs to a sneak peek of A Minecraft Movie and secret footage from the Mojang office, Minecraft LIVE 2024 delivered a thrilling showcase of what's next for the game. Packed with exciting announcements, awe-inspiring insights from our developers—including the legendary Jens Bergensten—it was an event to remember! Read on for a full breakdown of everything revealed. Or, if you’d rather watch the show, we’ve got the full video for you below (but come on, reading is way more fun, right?).
The Pale Garden and The Creaking
Minecraft continues to grow in ways you never imagined. During the show, developers Agnes, Jacek, Jasper, and Sandra revealed the first-ever look at a haunting new biome: the Pale Garden. This eerie landscape isn’t just about creative builds; it taps into the scarier side of Minecraft you might have experienced during those intense nighttime expeditions.
By day, the Pale Garden is serene, but as the sun sets, it transforms into something much more sinister. Enter the Creaking—a terrifying new hostile mob. It freezes in place if you stare at it, but don’t get too comfortable. Direct attacks won’t work. To defeat the Creaking, you’ll need to find and destroy its Creaking Heart Block. Want to learn more? Watch Minecraft LIVE 2024 for a deep dive into the Pale Garden and discover what loot awaits the brave.
A Sneak Peek at A Minecraft Movie
One of the most anticipated segments was an exclusive look into A Minecraft Movie! Mojang’s creative director of entertainment, Torfi Frans Olafsson, joined film director Jared Hess to offer fans insight into the movie-making process. They even shared a never-before-seen scene from the movie! It’s full of blocky action, secret details, and everything you’d want from Minecraft on the big screen.
Hardcore Mode Comes to Bedrock & Bundles for All
Big news for Bedrock players! The long-awaited Hardcore Mode is finally coming to Bedrock Edition, thanks to the "Bundles of Bravery" update. This update also introduces bundles to all versions of the game, making it easier to keep your inventory tidy, no matter how you play. Stephen and Matthew broke down why these features are a game-changer for both veteran players and newcomers. Get ready for these updates to hit soon!
Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue
Ever wanted to step inside a Minecraft biome in real life? Well, now’s your chance! Element Animation’s Newest Masterpiece & More
We also couldn’t resist sharing Element Animation’s latest creation, along with some behind-the-scenes footage from the Mojang office in Stockholm. And of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without some wisdom from Jens, as well as insights from Minecraft LIVE veterans Lydia and Vu.

Minecraft is celebrating its 15th anniversary, and earlier in September 2024, Mojang Studios shared some exciting news about future updates. One significant announcement revealed that "Minecraft Live" will become a more streamlined event, taking place twice a year. Each broadcast will be packed with essential information about new features, updates in development, and the latest news from the broader Minecraft franchise. Shortly after this, Mojang Studios officially announced the time and date for the next Minecraft Live event.
Minecraft Live is a virtual event that anyone can watch. Owen Jones, Director of Creative Communications at Mojang Studios, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the broadcast will begin at 1 p.m. EDT on September 28th. He also teased that Minecraft Live will have a fresh look, along with exciting new game drops. By tuning in, players will gain exclusive insights into upcoming features and more, directly from the developers.
The description on YouTube adds: “This year’s Minecraft Live will have a new look and feel, but it’s still packed with the latest and greatest news. We’ll be unveiling never-before-seen game drops, giving you exclusive insight into secret stuff, and more!”
In addition to showcasing new content and future updates, the event will offer opportunities for viewers to engage directly with the developers, making for a more interactive and immersive experience. This will allow players to gain a deeper understanding of what’s coming next for Minecraft.
Mojang Studios has also confirmed that there will be an afterparty following the event. During the afterparty, developers will showcase new features live, giving viewers an early sneak peek at what’s in store once the updates are officially released.
If you’re interested in watching Minecraft Live, the event will be streamed across multiple platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, and the official Minecraft website. Although Mojang's headquarters are in Sweden, the event will be hosted in English. However, they plan to provide translations into other languages to ensure a global audience can enjoy the experience.
