The Brazil Game Show 2023 has concluded. The event ended on the 15th, with the second performance of the Sonic Symphony. It all began on the 11th, a day primarily reserved for the press. This was an opportunity to experience some remarkable upcoming games, such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Sonic Superstars, and Persona 3 Reload.
Access to these highly anticipated games well before their official release, by days, weeks, or even months, is undoubtedly a unique privilege, especially for those not directly associated with the industry. This is one of the notable features of BGS, capitalizing on the timing, occurring a few weeks after the Tokyo Game Show.
Could it have been even better? There's room for improvement. The absence of major players like Microsoft and Sony was conspicuous. Many attendees were hoping to catch a glimpse of the highly awaited Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo. However, it is essential to clarify that the BGS was successful in filling the void.
Subsequent days were filled with diverse experiences. One day was devoted to networking, making new acquaintances, and the exchange of greetings. Another was focused on exploring the continuously expanding Indie Avenue, which appeared to grow in size and influence each year. On other days, attendees had the opportunity to witness presentations and engage with special guests. Notable figures present included Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of Tetris, Takashi Iizuka, a prominent producer behind numerous Sonic games, Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida, the visionary behind Final Fantasy XIV and XVI, and Ryota Niitsuma, who represented Persona 3 Reload but is also fondly remembered for his involvement in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
On a particular day, during a moment of exhaustion and contemplation of departure, Takashi Iizuka was observed navigating through the event's turnstiles, highlighting a unique privilege of witnessing one of the masterminds behind the games industry up close.
In reflection, various activities unfolded throughout the event. From seeking autographs and capturing memories with renowned figures such as Humberto Martinez, a celebrated editor of several Brazilian gaming magazines, to witnessing the extensive diversity of attendees, each driven by their unique passions and objectives.
Brazil Game Show experience was indeed one-of-a-kind. However, the grand event offered a wealth of unexplored opportunities and hidden mysteries, showcasing the uniqueness of each attendee's personal journey of discovery.
In conclusion, the Brazil Game Show stands as a sandbox of life, and as the 2023 edition reaches its conclusion, the delightful memories it has created are a promise of more to come next year.
The meeting with gamers, passionate like us, is always unique and unforgettable!
See you in 2024!
