Important Revelations Regarding Satoru Iwata's Contribution to Pokémon Gold and Silver

For a long time, it was believed that Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo, was responsible for fitting the Kanto and Johto regions into a single cartridge for the popular Pokémon Gold and Silver games. However, recent research sheds light on other aspects of his work on these games.

According to information presented in a new video from DidYouKnowGaming, Satoru Iwata's focus was on improving the game's speed rather than cramming in a large amount of content. It turns out that he repurposed code from another game, Earthbound, which resulted in an increase in the speed of Pokémon Gold and Silver.

However, the speed improvements were minimal, saving only fractions of a second in some cases, such as encounters with wild Pokémon.

These findings contradict the long-held belief that Satoru Iwata managed to reduce the size of the game, allowing for more content. In reality, Iwata's code made the games run faster but occupy more space on the GameBoy cartridges.

Such discoveries highlight the importance of the roles played by various individuals, including Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Nintendo, who suggested splitting the original Pokémon game into two versions, each with exclusive Pokémon, which has become a hallmark of this iconic franchise.
