First revealed during the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event in February, Stadium is a best-of-seven grudge match where two teams battle it out, collecting currency to upgrade their heroes' abilities between rounds.

Now, just a week before its official release, Blizzard has shared an action-packed gameplay trailer. Highlighting a dramatic comeback from one team's perspective, the trailer showcases powerful new abilities in action: Ana’s AoE Nano-Boost, Moira’s Biotic Orb Multiball, Juno’s devastating Orbital Ray, Ashe’s mini B.O.B., and Mei’s rolling snowball attack. Players can also spot how Cash, the mode’s upgrade currency, is earned through eliminations and gameplay — or by selling powers and items between rounds.

Overwatch 2 Stadium Game Mode Arrives April 22 🚀

Only 15 heroes appear in the Stadium trailer for now, though Blizzard plans to expand the roster over time. Damage heroes include Soldier: 76, Genji, Reaper, Ashe, Mei, and Cassidy. For support roles, players can choose between Juno, Ana, Moira, Kiriko, and Lucio. Tank options include Reinhardt, Zarya, Junker Queen, and Orisa. Interestingly, although she doesn’t appear in the trailer, D.Va shows up in other promotional material, hinting at her possible inclusion. The maps are shortened versions of familiar Clash, Push, and Control maps, plus a brand-new arena called Gladius, located inside Colosseo.

Launching with Season 16 on April 22, Blizzard hopes Stadium will become a major pillar of Overwatch 2, standing alongside classic Quick Play and Competitive modes. Players can expect ongoing updates and support for Stadium throughout the year.

Season 16 itself is shaping up to be a big one. Freja, a highly-mobile bounty hunter, joins the damage hero lineup, several Perks are being reworked for better balance, and 6v6 Open Queue will continue in both Quick Play and Competitive. No matter how they prefer to play, fans have a lot to look forward to when Season 16 kicks off. 🎉
