Molf1g leaves the professional Overwatch scene
Mikkel 'Molf1g' Jernes, a Danish professional Overwatch player who previously played for the London Spitfire, has shared the news that he is ending his esports career.
Mikkel posted the news on his Twitter, in which he shares his thoughts that he wants to move on and is dissatisfied with his results last season. “After last season's result, I didn't have a high chance of making it to the OWL this season, but I thought I might have a chance to stay in London. Despite the results, I felt like I had good moments in games. Later I found out that next OWL season I would not have the opportunity to join the team and I decided that it might be time for me to move on. I am 24 years old and although I would like to continue playing or training, I believe that it is further is the right decision for me. " - a quote from Mikkel's story.
Despite the large number of first places and victories in the 2020 tournaments, last year was the most unlucky for Molf1g. The year 2021 for the Danish esportsman began with the SteelSeries Invitational, as a result of which the London Spitfire took 3-4 places losing to the Los Angeles Gladiators with a score of 2: 3. In the next Flash Ops: Experimental Card Tournament - EMEA Mikkel and his team took 5-8 places. And the final event of the year and possibly the further career of Molf1g was the Overwatch League 2021 - Regular Season with a final 18th place in the standings.
The final decision remains only with Mikkel, who knows, maybe he will return to the professional scene after the necessary break, because his interest in Overwatch has not disappeared. Perhaps we will see him as a coach. Well, now we wish Mikkel the best in his new journey!
