Patch Goals and Developer Insights

According to Riot, the main objective of this update is to stabilize the meta and increase build diversity across roles. The developers noted that Phase Rush has become excessively powerful in avoiding crowd control — particularly in the mid lane, where champions like Ryze and Orianna often used it to escape dangerous trades.

Meanwhile, the Biscuits rune has also been rebalanced after becoming a near-universal pick; its healing and sustain have been reduced to promote more varied rune selections. Other rune adjustments, including buffs to Nimbus Cloak and Tenacity Shard, are aimed at keeping alternative options competitive.

Champion Buffs

  • Aurelion Sol: Base movement speed increased from 335 → 340, and Q damage boosted from 55–95 → 60–100.
  • Blitzcrank: E cooldown reduced from 9/8/7/6/5 → 7.6/6.5/5.5/5, allowing for more frequent crowd control plays.
  • Yone: Q damage increased from 20–120 → 25–125, improving his consistency in early skirmishes.

Champion Nerfs

  • Akshan: Base HP lowered from 630 → 610, and Q cooldown increased from 8.5 → 9.5, slightly slowing his snowball potential.
  • LeBlanc: Health growth reduced from 111 → 108 and armor growth from 4.7 → 4.2, making her less durable.
  • Talon: Monster damage multiplier reduced from 1.1× → 1.0×, weakening his jungle clear speed.

Champion Adjustments

Skarner

  • AD growth: 3 → 4
  • Q bonus AD: 80% → 90%
  • E bonus AD: 0% → 120%
  • Q cooldown: 13–7 → 8–4 (after last action)
  • R cast time: 0.65 → 0.75

Skarner’s rework continues to evolve — he now deals more damage and scales harder, but his ultimate is slightly slower to cast, requiring better timing and precision.

Volibear

  • Armor: 31 → 35
  • AD: 60 → 62
  • Q minimum speed: 12–28% → 12–26%
  • E damage to minions/monsters: 650 → 190–650 + 70% AP

Volibear gains more survivability and offensive power, with better base stats and more efficient jungle clearing through his E.

⚔️ System Nerfs

🌍 Context and Looking Ahead

In the previous Patch 15.21, Riot introduced buffs for Fiddlesticks, Wukong, and Corki, along with a rework for Spear of Shojin and several mage runes. Patch 15.22 continues that momentum, seeking to fine-tune the balance before the competitive Worlds 2025 meta fully locks in.

Expect these changes to hit live servers later this week, shaking up both solo queue and pro play alike.
