Riot, in cooperation with Orbit Books, have announced a partnership to produce their "first novel" in League of Legends' growing fantastic universe. Ruination is being authored by Riot Games talented writer, Anthony Reynolds, which will be released in September.

Ruination tells us about the champion Kalista, the Spear of Vengeance, who was added to the roster back in 2014, and the Ruined King Viego, a newer champion who got his own spinoff RPG last year. Ruination demonstrates the relationship between these two characters, especially on Kalista, the "military general to KingViego, as she searches for a legendary realm that may have access to ancient magic—the only way to cure the poisoned Queen Isolde."

Ruination seems like the third leg of a League multimedia story consisting of the Sentinels of Light.

Senior Vice President and Publisher of Orbit US, Tim Holman, said of the deal, “We are thrilled to be publishing the first novel set in the League of Legends universe. Our goal is to publish stories that will excite not just the millions of League of Legends players but anyone who loves epic adventures set in fantasticalworlds. Working with the Rioters has been an amazing experience, and I believe that together we can build a phenomenal publishing program.”
