DWG KIA left without four players
Tonight, representatives of the esports organization DWG KIA announced changes to their LoL roster. Kim 'Khan' Dong-ha, Kim 'Canyon' Geon-boo, Heo 'ShowMaker' Soo, and Cho 'BeryL' Geon-hee have come to an end. All four became free agents.
The club's management thanked the players for their joint work and hopes to resume fruitful cooperation with League of Legends players.
In the announcement, representatives of DWG KIA wrote the following:
DWG KIA announces the expiration of contracts with Kim 'Canyon' Geon Boo, Heo 'ShowMaker' Soo, Cho 'Beryl' Jeon Hee. DWG KIA respects their FA decisions. We would like to express our gratitude for the time spent with us. To continue our journey together, DWG KIA will continue to communicate with them in the hope of signing new contracts. Thank you for your support in 2021 and DWG KIA will do whatever it takes to organize the team to win.
There are now three players left on the roster: Kim 'Malrang' Geun-seong, Young 'Ghost' Yong-yun, and Cho 'Rahel' Min-seong.
DWG KIA had a rather successful 2020/2021 season. They were winners at KeSPA Cup 2020, LCK Spring 2021 and LCK Summer 2021, and finished second in two of the biggest League of Legends championships, Mid-Season Invitational 2021 and 2021 World Championship. Winning LCK Spring 2021 and LCK Summer 2021 earned the champions $ 178,412 and $ 172,576, respectively. The team earned $ 50,000 for the second place at MSI 2021, and, having become the silver medalists of the 2021 World Championship, the team earned $ 333,750. It is noteworthy that the grand final in the League of Legends World Championship was lost 2-3 against EDward Gaming. The team was one step away from defending the World Champion title. In this case, DWG KIA would become the second line-up in history that managed to achieve this achievement. The first such team was SK Telecom T1, which are now performing under the T1 tag.
Later, the club's management will report on the success or failure of agreeing with the players on new financial conditions and the extension of cooperation with them.
The current DWG KIA roster is:
- Kim 'Malrang' Geun-seong
- Young 'Ghost' Yong-yun
- Cho 'Rahel' Min-seong
