Hearthstone: Could Knights of the Frozen Throne be Pushing for a More Viable Control Warrior?
When we’re talking Warrior in the current Meta, Pirates and Taunts are probably the first things that come to mind, and it has been that way for a while now. Control Warrior hasn’t even crossed our minds due to the existence of Jade Idol, the Druid card that essentially makes any other attempt at a late game control deck obsolete. However, let’s take a look at some of the recently revealed Warrior cards and see if that will still be the way of the Meta after this expansion drops.
For starters, this card can potentially increase your deck size by 9 cards – including another Dead Man’s Hand. With the right amount of cycle and thought that goes into this, one can, in theory, never go into Fatigue. This was the main issue playing against Jade Druid, that they would never go into fatigue and therefore Control / Fatigue Warrior lost a huge win condition. Now, however, this can go both ways just by including 2 copies of this card in your deck.
This one is interesting for sure, and really shouldn’t be used for anything but very late game plays when you have a good read on your opponent’s hand. Reducing one or two cards is far from the end of the world, but if you have a good handle on your opponent’s deck and what is most likely to be in their hand, this card can be pretty good. It’s another way to provide a big armor boost without ramping up with Justicarr Trueheart, since she has been rotated out.
It looks like it’s Warrior’s turn to get the 1-mana 1/3 this expansion, and it’s an interesting one for sure. Realistically, I have my doubts that it will see a heavy amount of play, but depending on the deck, it could be run as a tech choice, especially in something like Taunt Warrior where the cards often have a few Enrage effects.
We haven’t seen a lot of reveals for the Warrior class yet, so keep your eyes peeled and let us know what you think of the reveals so far!
