Washington government decided to make a significant contribution to the eSports development. The government will become sponsors of different Major tours and they also will build an arena to host esports events. DC Events chairman, Max Brown, manager of congress, sports and entertainment in the district, has announced to Mashable portal that the government is ready to provide $65,000,000 to build Washington Mystics arena with 4,200 capacity. He added that the building will be built specially for esports events. Except for that, the information appeared that Events DC will become sponsors of the American multigaming epsorts organization NRG eSprots, which has rosters in the following disciplines: CS:GO, Overwatch, HearthStone, Vainglory, Smite, Smash bros. and Rocket League. In the interview, Max Brown told:

«We believe this has a huge sense for our city as we want to become the capital of esports as we are the capital of the US.»

NEG eSports was founded in 2015 by several professional esportsmen. Shaquille O’Neal, Jimmy Rollins and Alex Rodriguez are the cofounders of NRG eSports. Esports arena, as well as other professional sports buildings, will be financed by government. The project was criticized by the publicity as publically financed project for NBA team. Initially, it was expected that the expenses for the arena will be $55,000,000, however, last summer $10,000,000 have been added. DC Events decided to cover these extra-expenses. It is expected that the arena will be built and opened in 2018. NRG eSports does not reveal financial conditions of the cooperation with Events DC.
