The main events of January 2019
January will be rich in esports events. We represent you the list of tournaments, which can’t be missed.
Dota 2
The Chinese qualifiers to MDL Macau 2019 will be hosted online on January 3-4. Let’s remind that the main event will be hosted on February 20-24. There, teams will divide a prize pool in the sum of $300,000. This championship will not be a DPC tournament, so Dota Pro Circuit will not be up for grabs there.
On January 3-19, The Bucharest Minor 2019 will be carried out, at which one invite to The Chongqing Major 2019 will be up for grabs. Besides the invite, the prize pool in the sum of $300,000 and 500 Dota Pro Circuit points will be up for grabs. 8 teams from Europe, North America, South America, CIS, Southeast Asia, and China will compete in the event.
The Chongqing Major 2019 will be the icing on the cake of January. Both viewers and players are waiting for it. The tournament will be one of the largest championships in the first half of 2019. 16 qualified participants will divide a prize pool in the sum of $1,000,000 and 15,000 Dota Pro Circuit Points. A winner will earn the main prize in the sum of $350,000 and 4,950 DPC points.
CS:GO
Unlike Dota 2, CS:GO can’t boast of the big number and the variety of tournaments, which will be hosted in January. iBUYPOWER Masters 2019 will be the largest championship, which will be carried out in the first month of 2019. There, $200,000 will be up for grabs for eight participants and the main money prize will amount $100,000. iBUYPOWER Masters IV will take place on January 19-20.
Four Minor tournaments will be hosted in Asia, America, CIS, and Europe on January 16-26. The best teams will receive invitations to New Challenger Stage of the upcoming Major tournament, Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2019.
League of Legends
We have good news for those who like watching LoL leagues. In January, about ten regional leagues will start in various divisions, which will last till April. The mid-season break will be over and teams will come back to the fight for the title of the best team in its region. Let’s remind that teams, which have placed first in their leagues, will receive an invite to Mid-Season Invitational 2019.
