Those wishing to get a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series will have to wait. All due to problems with the production of chips used in consoles.
This was announced by the head of the semiconductor division Takeshi Kamebuchi. Component supply problems will last until September 2022, and in the worst case, until 2023, Kamebuchi said.
Sony and Microsoft are the most demanding semiconductor customers, but the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on component design. Perhaps to overcome the problem, Microsoft and Sony will change the design of the consoles.
