Diablo II: Resurrected will be missing ultra-wide formats
Diablo series producer Rod Fergusson said that part of the audience who wants to play Diablo 2: Resurrected in ultra-wide format will be upset, since this option is not provided in the game. Rod cited a technical flaw that would break the game as the main reason.
On his Twitter account, he said that the solution was to add black bars on the sides of the screen. The original was made in a 4: 3 ratio and a resolution of 800x600. This adds a lot of complexity for the developers of the remake of the acclaimed game.
Rod Fergusson wrote the following:
The original game was designed for 4x3 and 800x600 resolutions. Gameplay breaks down with the move to ultra-wide, so we've added a vignette to preserve the integrity of the gameplay.
These features of Diablo II give ultra-wide monitor players an edge over regular users. Most abilities do not have a clear range. In the original title, the monitor screen served as a limitation on the range of abilities. Despite the fact that black bars, according to the developers, will be added to maintain a balance between all users, in single player gamers with ultra-wide monitors will also have to play in 4: 3 format.
The game will look something like this:
Diablo II: Resurrected is a remake of Diablo's most successful installment on September 23rd. The game is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
Diablo 2 was originally released in 2000 and was developed by Blizzard North. The game continued the events of the original Diablo, which was released 4 years earlier. The title is made in the style of dark fantasy and tells the story of the invasion of demons, which players will have to resist. The gameplay of the game was simple enough compared to all of its competitors, but that didn't mean Diablo 2 was boring. On the contrary, the game was so addictive that players could spend hours, or even a day, in it. For all gamers, the Blizzard game offered to clear the dungeons from hordes of enemies, rewarding them with special rewards and valuable experience that increased the characteristics of the hero.
Diablo 2 has become a real cult phenomenon, receiving the highest ratings from both the gaming press and from the players themselves. In 2000, Blizzard's title became one of the best-selling computer game titles. In the first year, the number of games sold exceeded 4,000,000. The first million sold came in the first two weeks, making such a result a real gem in the world of computer games. Not every game manages to achieve such indicators even after 21 years.
In 2012, a sequel to the game, Diablo III, was released, which tried to maintain a recognizable colorful spirit and continued the story, but the new game failed to achieve such a great response in the hearts of fans as the second part did.
Earlier this year, Blizzard cheered the old game guard with the news of a remaster of Diablo's second installment, subtitled Resurrected. Now, the title will immediately include an add-on that brings two new characters to the five existing ones.
Bloggers and game journalists who tried out the game praised it and noted the one-button switch between old and new views. This opportunity will allow players to visually compare the work done and return to the days of the 2000s, when Diablo 2 was just released.
