Final Fantasy XIV explodes in popularity - Square Enix sold out all keys to the game
MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is gaining momentum. Over the past 24 hours, 58,046 users were simultaneously in the game, which is an absolute record for FF XIV.
The skyrocketing popularity has brought with it some problems. Now it is simply impossible to purchase a key in an official store or from partners.
The lightning-fast growth of players affected the gameplay as well. Users are reporting that they are increasingly faced with queues at the entrance, which has never happened before.
Perhaps this is one of the reasons for the limited sales of keys. FF XIV players assume that the publishers themselves deliberately suspended the sale of access to the game in order to save the servers and allow Final Fantasy XIV users to play without lags and other problems.
The boom in Final Fantasy XIV came after major World of Warcraft streamers played Square Enix on their broadcasts. Whether this was a spontaneous decision of opinion leaders or an advertising campaign on the occasion of the imminent release of the Endwalker add-on is anyone's guess.
