At the last Xbox presentation, 3 minutes of the gameplay of Battlefield 2042 was shown. And even before that, EA shared some of the features of the upcoming shooter.

Battlefield 2042 will not have the usual story campaign - all the emphasis in DICE was on sophisticated online battles. The fruits of the developers' work at the start will result in at least 3 modes:

  • Total War is a massive multiplayer mode that will be exclusive to next generation consoles and PCs. From 64 to 128 players fight on the maps.
  • Danger Zone - A team-focused mode. Details are promised later, but guesses creep in according to the description (battle royale in Battlefield).
  • Unknown Mode - Developed by DICE LA, in tribute to the veterans of the series. The mode will refer to the previous installments of the franchise, although it will offer a unique experience.

In the new Battlefied, players will be offered 10 classes (which are called specialists here) to choose from. So far EA has only talked about 4 of them:

  • Stormtrooper (Webster McKay) - Can use a grappling hook and moves quickly.
  • Medic (Maria Falk) - heals partners with a special pistol.
  • Engineer (Pyotr Guskovsky) - installs turrets and other wonders of engineering on the battlefield.
  • Scout (Vicus Van Diehl) - can mark enemies with a drone.

By the way, the game will be divided into seasons - 4 seasons per year. Each season in Battlefield 2042 will add 1 new soldier.

We will see a detailed roadmap shortly before the release of the game on October 22, 2021. Battlefield 2042 is coming to PC, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4.
