2K Games announced the acquisition of Austin-based HookBang's gaming division. Note that the HookBang team worked on NBA 2K21 and created the PackRat web game.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2K said it will rebrand the team, both visually and tweak it to support future NBA 2K games and the company's publishing business. The team will also move to a new office in Austin, where 2K plans to hire hundreds of developers.
Note that like HookBang, HB Studios was previously an external partner of 2K Sports, developing the PGA Tour 2K franchise for the publisher.
