Epic Games acquires Fall Guys developers
Epic Games bought out Mediatonic, along with its parent company, the Tonic Games Group, known for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. The development team previously worked with Devolver Digital.
Epic said in a press release that it has no plans to change the gameplay on any of the platforms it currently operates on and that it will continue to invest in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. The studio also added that it is not yet ready to make any announcements regarding the transition to a free distribution model of its brainchild.
Mediatonic also announced that after the deal with Epic Games, it plans to introduce mechanics into Fall Guys that already exist in Fortnite and the Rocket League. The developers will add an account system, crossplay and other mechanics to the game.
Tonic Games Group joins other Epic Games studios including Rocket League developer Psyonix, Chair Entertainment, and People Can Fly.
