Microsoft Doubles Xbox Live Gold Subscription Price
Microsoft has announced a price update for Xbox Live Gold, which appears to be part of an incentive strategy for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Note that Xbox Live Gold will allow players to receive a certain set of titles for free every month, as well as have access to multiplayer.
Microsoft's decision to stage this rather huge price spike has infuriated and bewildered many consumers, given that Xbox consoles are the only platforms people have to pay on to play multiplayer games like Fortnite or Warzone.
No other gaming platform, including those where you have to pay for online services like PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, asks its customers to pay in order to play free-to-play online games.
Updated pricing for Xbox Live Gold:
- Month - $ 10.99 ($ 1 increase).
- Three months - $ 29.99 ($ 5 increase).
- Six months - $ 59.99 ($ 20 increase).
Users who already subscribe to six or twelve months of Xbox Live Gold will not be affected.
Microsoft also shared its February selection of games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers:
- Gears 5.
- Resident Evil.
- Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition.
- Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb.
- Lost Planet 2.
