The Witcher 4 Will Have Emotional Consequences After Choices Players Made

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is remembered, among other things, for the choices players made throughout the game, which not only had a significant impact on the story but also left a lasting emotional impression. And CD Projekt RED seems ready to raise the stakes in the upcoming fourth game in the series.

During the International Festival of Comics and Games in Łódź, as reported by Wiedzminlandia, CD Projekt Red co-CEO Adam Badowski claimed the developers are devoting a significant amount of time to refining the story of The Witcher 4, and this is one of the reasons why the game’s development is taking so long. The studio is also working to ensure that the consequences of players’ choices leave them with an emotional and lasting impression.

CD Projekt RED co-CEOAdam Badowski stated that The Witcher 4 will have morally ambiguous choices with consequences that will stick with the player and leave a lasting impression.

He spoke of the story stating that it’s meant to “Maximize its emotional impact on players, ensuring it isn’t hollow but truly resonates.“

Badowski also revealed other details about The Witcher and the franchise’s future. Specifically, he confirmed the combat system in the fourth title will be similar to the one we saw in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt but will significantly expand on its mechanics. He also did not rule out the possibility that Fool's Theory, which is working on a remake of the original game, might also release an enhanced version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings sometime in the future.
