Everything Announced and Revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 has come to an end, and, as expected, the two-hour show featured a bunch of new game announcements, as well as the unveiling of new trailers for upcoming projects. Below, you’ll find out everything that was announced and revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026.
Nodus Fall
The show kicked off with an announcement from HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact, revealing its new project: NodusFall. It is a co-op action game set in a dark fantasy world, powered by Unreal Engine 5, reminiscent of a blend of Monster Hunter and Elden Ring. The release date and platforms are as yet unknown.
Rainbow Six Tactics
The first of Ubisoft’s announcements at Gamescom was related to a new game set in the Rainbow Six universe, subtitled Tactics. The franchise is set to switch genres to a top-down turn-based strategy game, resembling XCOM. The launch is scheduled for 2027 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Gears of War: E-Day
The upcoming Xbox exclusive, Gears of War: E-Day, has received a new story trailer that emphasizes the gravity of the situation. The game is set to release on October 6th for PC and Xbox Series X/S and will also be available on Game Pass on the same day.
Ananta
Ananta, the upcoming open-world free-to-play game that has already been described by many as “GTA in an anime world,” has been given a release date—the game will be released on January 15, 2027, on PC and PlayStation 5, as well as iOS and Android.
Silent Hill: Townfall
The upcoming horror game from Screen Burn, Silent Hill: Townfall, which will release next month, has received a new short trailer showcasing the cast and confirming the presence of giant monsters in the game.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a prequel to the first game, is also coming out this week and has received a story trailer. The game will be released on August 27 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
Crimson Desert Enhanced
Pearl Abyss is continuing to work on the Crimson Desert upgrade. As part of the Night Opening Live event, a Crimson Desert Enhanced trailer was unveiled—the updated version of the game will feature additional cutscenes and dialogue that better explore its storyline. The developers have also confirmed the inclusion of five new language options (French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese), improvements to the skill system, various bug fixes, and much more. What’s more, owners of the original game will receive the update completely free of charge.
Tides of Annihilation
Eclipse Glow Games has released a new trailer for Tides of Annihilation, confirming that Angela Sant’Albano, best known for her role as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil: Requiem, will voice the main character, Gwendolyn, replacing Jennifer English. The trailer showcases the game’s combat system and reveals a few details about the plot. The release date for Tides of Annihilation remains unknown.
Lofsong
The Italian studio Unrelated Studio has unveiled the debut trailer for its indie game, Lofsong. The game stands out for its unusual black-and-white color palette, while the gameplay centers on the search for and recovery of lost memories. Lofsong has been confirmed for release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5—the exact date is as yet unknown.
Mega Man: Dual Override
Capcom has unveiled new gameplay footage for Mega Man: Dual Override, a game first announced at last year’s The Game Awards. The platformer is scheduled for release in 2027 (PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2). Additionally, the studio has confirmed that the main characters from Pragmata, the developers’ new IP released this April, will receive themed costumes based on the franchise soon.
Rayman Legends Retold
Ubisoft’s another announcement at Opening Night Live was about Rayman Legends Retold, a remake of the original game, which will be released this October. The new gameplay trailer focuses on the music level and features the famous 'Macarena.'
PUBG Dead Net
KRAFTON and PUBG Madison have unveiled a trailer for PUBG: DED.NET—the game is set in an alternative Cascadia in the 1990s and will feature roguelite elements, with a focus on paranormal events and various mutations. The release date is currently unknown.
Control Resonant
Control Resonant—the new game from Remedy, coming out next month—has gotten one of the most memorable trailers. Specifically, the new trailer focused on the combat system, and the track 'Omen' by The Prodigy fit the game’s style perfectly.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood of Dawnwalker, the upcoming title from Rebel Wolves—the former developers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—which is set to be released next week, has also received a new story trailer. In this new trailer, the focus was on both the storyline and various gameplay aspects, such as the day-and-night cycle, the consequences of choices, and more.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
PlaySide Studios has unveiled a gameplay trailer for their upcoming strategy game set in the Game of Thrones universe—War for Westeros—which will release for PC in 2027.
Dust Origins
Airship Syndicate, the studio best known for Darksiders Genesis, has unveiled a trailer for Dust Origins—an isometric horror action game that follows the protagonist’s escape from an orbital prison. As he makes his escape, he will be forced to face not only other prisoners but also various alien creatures. The release date and platforms are currently unknown.
Exodus
Archetype Entertainment, made up of former developers from Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, has unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming story-driven project, Exodus. This promising RPG is set to be released next April (PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5).
Warlock
Announced at last year’s The Game Awards, Warlock—a new single-player AAA title set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe from Invoke Studios—has received its first gameplay trailer. The game resembles Hogwarts Legacy and The Witcher franchise, with an emphasis on an open world, active use of magic, various puzzles, and more. It has also been revealed that Maggie Robertson, known for her role as Lady Dimitrescu, is involved in the game’s development. Warlock is expected to release in 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
1001 Threads of Mizan
One of the most remarkable announcements at Opening Night Live came from MBC Game Studio. The developers unveiled 1001: Threads of Mizan—a co-op action game that combines a Middle Eastern setting, flying on magic carpets, and battles against giant mystical creatures. So far, the project looks very impressive. A release date and platforms have not yet been announced.
Silver Palace
Silver Palace has released a new trailer dedicated to the multiplayer mode called House of Greed.
Metro 2039
4A Games has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming shooter, Metro 2033, which is scheduled for release next February for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
Hitman
IO Interactive has confirmed that Snoop Dogg will be Agent 47’s next target in Hitman: World of Assassination. The event will be available from August 27.
Aion 2
Aion 2, the sequel to NCSoft’s MMORPG, has been given a new trailer and a confirmed release date – October 5 (PC).
Afterword
Paradox Development has announced a new strategy game titled Afterworld, which will take players to a post-apocalyptic version of the United States that they’ll need to rebuild from scratch. The game will feature multiple factions, the need to build and develop a settlement, and much more. The release window remains unknown at this stage.
Petit Planet
HoYoverse's second announcement was about Petit Planet—the studio announced that the game will be released this winter on PC, Android, and iOS.
Amsterdam 1666
Panache Digital Games has released a trailer for 1666: Amsterdam and confirmed that the game is now available in Early Access and can be purchased on Steam.
Showa American Story
NEKCOM Games has revealed the first glimpse of their new project, titled Showa American Story. It is an action RPG with an unusual setting—the game is set in the US, but the country has not only been overrun by various zombies, mutants, and gangs, but has also become literally addicted to Japanese pop culture. A release has been confirmed for PC and PlayStation 5, though no release date has been announced yet.
Road Kings
Saber Interactive has confirmed that Road Kings will be released next March for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is a long-haul trucking simulator in which you must establish and grow your own haulage company.
