2XKO Confirms Lux and Samira as the Next Playable Champions

Riot Games has officially revealed Lux and Samira as the next fighters coming to 2XKO. The announcement was made during EVO Vegas, where the studio also confirmed it has expanded its 2026 roadmap by increasing the number of planned character releases.

Instead of the five champions originally announced, Riot now plans to add six new fighters throughout 2026.

Lux and Samira are the latest League of Legends champions joining 2XKO's growing roster.

Earlier this year, Riot added:

• Caitlyn (January)
• Akali (April)
• Senna (June 9)
• Thresh (June 9)

Lux will be the next champion released, while Samira is expected to round out this year's lineup.

During EVO Vegas, Riot showcased the first gameplay footage of Lux following her visual redesign.

Rather than focusing on her signature long-range magic, the preview highlighted close-range combat using her staff. The gameplay also featured a sweeping attack that quickly caught the attention of fighting game fans.

Riot confirmed that the footage represents only an early look at the champion, with a full gameplay breakdown scheduled for this fall.

I think it's interesting that Riot is giving Lux a much more melee-focused fighting style instead of relying entirely on her iconic spells from League of Legends.

Unlike Lux, Samira only received a brief character reveal during the presentation.

Riot did not showcase any gameplay or discuss her moveset, confirming that a dedicated gameplay trailer will arrive later this year.

Given Samira's flashy, combo-heavy playstyle in League of Legends, many players are already speculating how her mechanics will translate into a tag fighting game.

I can see Samira becoming one of 2XKO's most aggressive characters if Riot manages to capture her fast-paced combat style.

2XKO is currently scheduled to launch in Fall 2026 as a free-to-play 2v2 tag fighter set in the League of Legends universe. Riot continues to expand the roster through regular reveals ahead of release, with additional champions expected to be announced in the coming months.
