Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Will Not Release Soon—It's Still “A Couple of Years” from Launch

One of the most anticipated games of the coming years is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which was announced back at The Game Awards 2024. Little is known about the game, but most importantly, it is being developed by Naughty Dog—the same studio behind the Uncharted and The Last of Us game series.

We already know that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet features some RPG elements and will be approximately twice as big as The Last of Us: Part II. The release date is still unknown, but earlier rumors suggested it may happen next year, and the game will receive its further upgrade to the PS6 version in 2027. For now, the information about the launch day is a subject of speculation, but Kumail Nanjiani, the actor who takes part in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s development, has added fuel to the fire and hinted the game will not be released soon.

As spotted by DomTheBomb, during one of the recent podcasts, Nanjiani reveals that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is expected to release “in a couple of years” as you can check out below:

"I actually acted in a few video games, and I realized this wasn't for me. I did do another one that's gonna come out in a couple of years. A Naughty Dog one that's gonna be really, really good."

That might be a disappointing update for players that indicates that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will probably release somewhere in 2028-2029. However, as mentioned by X social media user Scooping Potatoes, this podcast was recorded about 6 months ago, and that means the game could still be released in 2027.

“just to clarify, this was said in a podcast back in nov-dec 2025, so the timelines still work for a 2027 release.”

Speaking of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Troy Baker, who is also confirmed to play one of the characters in the game, recently revealed that the upcoming project will be bigger than The Last of Us, and Tati Gabrielle, who plays the main character, Jordan A. Mun, has shared that she’s “super stoked” about it. The highlights from her interview with Eurogamer you can check out below:

“I am excited to play myself. I think that it's such a different side of Naughty Dog that I think people are going to get really excited for.”

It’s not the first time Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet actor has praised the game. For instance, Tony Dalton previously described his experience as “nothing I've ever done in my life.”
