New Steam Feature Will Let Players Know Expected FPS Before Buying a Game
Some Steam users often have doubts about whether to buy a new game or not, especially if their PC is not powerful enough and the system requirements seem inflated. Fortunately, Valve seems ready to help many gamers with this decision with the new feature.
As revealed via X social media user LambdaGen, with a reference to Roadrunner on SteamDB, Valve is reportedly working on a function, which will allow Steam to show how much FPS you might get in one game or another. As you can check out below, there is a 'Framerate Estimator' and the description reveals, “Select an app and a PC config to get a chart of estimated framerates, based on the framerates of other Steam users.”
“Steam will soon tell you how much FPS you may get according to your PC specs by taking other Steam users with similar hardware.
Found by Roadrunner on SteamDB.”
Framerate Estimator is said to be on Beta stage at the moment, but there is still no announcement from Valve about this feature. In other new regarding Steam, store’s community market recently received major updates, introducing improved item pages, better search tools, expanded filtering, and more.
Speaking of Valve’s latest gaming device, Steam Machine, the latest update on Steam also confirms there are four Steam Machine model numbers and code tied to a reservation system. Although it’s not confirmed by Valve yet, but we might expect tiered launch lineup later this year.
