Fortnite Officially Teases Overwatch Crossover Launching This Week

After months of rumors and speculation, Fortnite has officially confirmed its upcoming crossover with Overwatch, bringing together two of the biggest multiplayer franchises of the past decade.

The collaboration is set to arrive on May 14, and Epic Games has already started teasing the first skins coming to the battle royale.

D.Va Confirmed as the First Overwatch Skin

Earlier today, the official Fortnite social media accounts released a teaser video hinting at the first crossover cosmetic arriving in Chapter 7 Season 2.

Although the teaser only showed a silhouette, Overwatch fans quickly recognized the character as D.Va. The reveal effectively confirms the long-running leaks that suggested Blizzard’s hero shooter would eventually make its way into Fortnite.

At the moment, D.Va is the only officially confirmed Overwatch character joining the game.

More Overwatch Characters Rumored

While Epic Games has not yet revealed the full lineup, previous leaks and insider reports have mentioned additional characters potentially arriving in the Item Shop.

Some of the most frequently rumored names include:

  • Tracer
  • Mercy
  • Genji

Earlier reports even suggested that up to four Overwatch heroes could be included in the collaboration. However, until Epic Games officially confirms the remaining skins, those reports remain unverified.

A Huge Update Day for Fortnite

The Overwatch crossover will launch during an especially busy week for Fortnite.

Alongside the new skins, May 14 is also expected to introduce:

  • New Star Wars cosmetics
  • The arrival of Act 3 content
  • Additional Chapter 7 Season 2 updates

The combination of multiple crossover events and seasonal content updates is shaping up to make this one of Fortnite’s biggest update days in recent months.

Another Major Franchise Joins Fortnite’s Expanding Universe

Fortnite has steadily evolved far beyond its original battle royale roots, becoming one of gaming’s largest crossover platforms. Over the years, Epic Games has partnered with franchises from movies, television, anime, comics, and gaming.

The arrival of Overwatch represents another major addition to Fortnite’s growing roster of collaborations and opens the door for even more Blizzard characters to potentially appear in the future.
