Leak Reveals FromSoftware Is Developing New Pirate RPG Video Game
There is only one confirmed game developed by FromSoftware (Dark Souls, Elden Ring) set to release this year—an action RPG with PvP and PvE elements, The Duskbloods, set to release on Nintendo Switch 2. A new leak reveals the studio is also working on a new AAA title, and the announcement could take place next month.
The initial report comes from some anonymous source at 4chan, which reveals that FromSoftware is developing a new IP titled Cerulean Onslaught. It’s a dark-action RPG, where players can sail the ocean exploring islands, with their own ship also acting as a hub. It is mentioned that the title will be officially revealed at Summer Game Fest (June 5-8) and be released this August.
Cerulean Onslaught is also said to have pirate vibes, though it doesn’t feature an open world. The game is actually taking place inside the wreck on an island-sized ship, which has crashed and collided with an island.
At the same time, FromSoftware hasn’t given any comments about a potential new RPG with pirate elements, so this report from 4chan should be considered a rumor. Meanwhile, we also heard rumors that Dark Souls trilogy might get a remake soon, which was reported by gaming insider Shirrako.
Another studio’s installment, Elden Ring, is confirmed to receive a movie adaptation soon. The shooting process is now underway, with the film set to premiere on March 3, 2028. It is being directed by Alex Garland (Annihilation, Civil War, Warfare), and the cast features Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Cailee Spaeny, and more.
