Resident Evil Requiem Will Continue The Story of Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil Requiem, the newest installment of Capcom’s famous franchise, will release next month, and the game’s director Koshi Nakanishi reveals new details of Requiem’s development.
In a recent interview with the PlayStation Japan Blog, Nakanishi shared that the development of Resident Evil Requiem started between 2019 and 2020 but clarified that the way the game looks right now only became actual three years ago. Specifically, the ending of Ethan Winters’ story in Resident Evil 7 has become the turning point of Resident Evil Requiem development, as you can check below:
"Development started on a small scale six years ago. However, the current form that everyone has now played came to be about three years ago. We started development after the apparent conclusion of Ethan's story with Resident Evil 7, and what would be the eighth numbered title, Resident Evil Village”
Also, Nakanishi has teased Resident Evil Requiem could have some connection and references to 2012’s Resident Evil 6, the latest title, where one of the main Requiem’s characters, Leon S. Kennedy, was involved:
"We're thankful that Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8 received high praise, but they were written to be somewhat disconnected from the story up through Resident Evil 6. Because of this, we began work on this project as we thought it was about time to get back to that story."
