According to Notable Developers, Grand Theft Auto VI Could Be the Most Defining Game Ever

There is no doubt Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated project of 2026 and perhaps one of the most anticipated games of all time. Rockstar Games is definitely creating something special; we still don’t know much about the game, including the story, gameplay, open world, and multiplayer, and that makes the game more intriguing.

Not only the players, but some famous video game developers are thrilled about GTA VI. During recent research, Japanese portal Famitsu asked multiple developers which games they’re most looking forward to in 2026—and, of course, Grand Theft Auto VI was the most obvious choice. Moreover, some familiar faces described their excitement over Rockstar Games’ latest entry, as you can check below:

“I'm excited to see if GTA 6 will finally be released. And if it will raise the bar." – Kazuyuki Yamai, producer and director of Atlus.

“I'm really looking forward to GTA 6. I think it will redefine players' standards, and I have a feeling that it'll be a once-in-a-generation turning point for games." – SNK art director Nobuyuki Kuroki.

"The game I'm most looking forward to in 2026 is GTA 6. Personally, I've been a fan since GTA 2, and every entry continues to surprise me, so I'm really looking forward to this one." – Goddess of Victory: Nikke director, Yoo Hyung-seok.

"In 2026, I'm looking forward to the new entry in the GTA series. As a creator myself, I'm inspired by the world's craftsmanship. GTA 6. Please release it." – Yakuza series director and producer Masayoshi Yokoyama.

The whole world has its sights set on GTA 6. I think the content and scale will not disappoint. We will be paying attention to what players enjoy about it." – SaGa director and designer Akitoshi Kawazu.

"I feel that GTA 6 will show us the next generation of gaming, and I'm looking forward to it. As hardware performance improves, I hope to see game development that was unthinkable in the past." – Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino.
