Crash Bandicoot is one of the most iconic video game characters of all time. Sony has created an icon, similar to Sega’s Sonic and Nintendo’s Mario, but unlike these two characters, Crash doesn’t have his own movie. However, it could change in the near future.

Last November, reliable insider V Scooper revealed Sony might be working on a Crash Bandicoot movie, though it’s still in a very early stage. Since then, we haven’t heard much, and Sony didn’t respond as well; however, an insider came with a new report and shared some details.

A new post on X social media, published by V Scooper, reveals some “undisclosed” studio is exploring the idea of a Crash Bandicoot movie. He also adds it’s described as a family movie for a broad audience and not driven by nostalgia or gamers. There are no words on the movie’s format, as it’s still in the early stages of development, and release won’t happen until 2030.

"EXCLUSIVE: A note tied to the undisclosed studio exploring a CRASH BANDICOOT movie:

“It’s being approached as an accesible family film, kids & parents, broad audiences, not driven on nostalgia or gamers only No format settled yet. Early exploration, likely coming around 2030;”

The latest Crash Bandicoot game, called Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, was released in 2020 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and six months later for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Crash Bandicoot 5 was reportedly in development but was cancelled in favor of focusing on live service games.
