Grand Theft Auto VI Can Become a MMORPG, According to the Developer
GTA VI, set to release next November, is expected to become, perhaps, the biggest video game of all time. Though we still haven’t seen the gameplay and Rockstar Games didn’t share many details, there is a sustainable feeling the game will blow the minds of players.
Moreover, according to famous game developer Rich Vogel, who previously worked on such titles as Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Halo: Infinite, etc., Grand Theft Auto 6 can potentially change the genre of the game series from action/adventure to MMORPG. During the recent interview with Wccftech, he reveals the number of features in the game does make it feel more like big MMORPG titles, as you can check below:
"Yes, I believe a large audience is waiting for the right MMORPG to emerge. Consider the millions of players who have played and continue to play WOW, SWTOR, ESO, UO, EverQuest, Fallout 76, and others. The problem is that no publisher is willing to invest the money and take the risk at this time. My instinct tells me that the next major MMORPG will likely come from Asia and/or Europe. If what I have been hearing about GTA 6's features and gameplay is true, it could evolve into an MMORPG, as many of its planned features are typically found in MMORPGs."
Grand Theft Auto VI is sure to have a multiplayer mode, similar to GTA Online for GTA V, but we don’t know anything about it—perhaps it should be bigger than in the previous title.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set to release on November 19, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The versions for PC and Nintendo Switch 2 are yet to be confirmed.
