GTA Online Update Sparks New GTA 6 Teaser Theory
Grand Theft Auto Online players believe the game’s latest update may be hiding a subtle teaser for Grand Theft Auto 6, possibly hinting at the return of Jimmy De Santa. Although Jimmy wasn’t a playable character in GTA 5, he played an important role as the son of Michael, one of the story’s three main protagonists, making the idea of his reappearance in GTA 6 plausible.
A Major GTA Online Update Sparks New Theories
On December 10, Rockstar Games released the highly anticipated mansions update for GTA Online, titled “A Safehouse in the Hills.” This free update introduces purchasable luxury mansions—though at steep prices ranging from $11.5 million to $12.8 million before customization. Alongside real estate, the update adds new missions, vehicles, bonuses for GTA+ members, and even features the unexpected return of Michael De Santa.
Fans Suspect Jimmy De Santa Could Be Heading to Vice City
With this update, all three GTA 5 protagonists have now appeared in GTA Online, along with returning supporting characters such as Lester Crest, Lamar Davis, and Jimmy De Santa. The speculation around Jimmy stems from an introductory cutscene in which Amanda remarks that their son is “finally moving away from home.” While this line may simply imply that Jimmy has moved out, some fans interpret it as a hint that he could be relocating to Vice City—the setting of Grand Theft Auto 6.
The theory isn’t entirely far-fetched. Rockstar has a history of bringing back characters from previous GTA titles. For instance, Johnny Klebitz, the protagonist of GTA 4: The Lost and Damned, made a brief appearance in GTA 5. Other GTA 4 characters like Packie McReary and Tony Prince have also resurfaced in GTA 5 and GTA Online.
Not the First GTA 6 Character Theory
This isn’t the first time players have speculated about familiar faces returning in the next mainline game. After a December 2024 GTA Online update, fans noted that Lester Crest appeared to have retired and gone on a permanent vacation—fueling guesses that he may resurface in the neon-soaked world of Leonida in GTA 6.
GTA 6 Still a Long Way Off
Unfortunately, whether any of these theories prove true may not be known for years. GTA 6 was originally planned for a Fall 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but delays have repeatedly pushed the launch date back. After moving first to May 26, 2026, Rockstar later confirmed another delay, setting the new release target for November 19, 2026.
