Eagle Artillery Returns to Clash of Clans… But Not How Players Expected

Players at Town Hall 17 in Clash of Clans may remember the mixed feelings that came with the update replacing the Eagle Artillery. Once the structure was merged with Town Hall 16 to create the Inferno Artillery, the classic Eagle vanished from bases entirely. More than a year later, there is finally something that acknowledges its legacy—not its return as a defense, but a tribute in the form of a decoration.

The Eagle Monument Arrives — But Only for TH17 and Above

A new Eagle Monument decoration is now available exclusively for Town Hall 17 players and higher. It does not appear at Town Hall 18, and players at TH16 or below cannot unlock it, which many agree is the most logical approach. The decoration can be found in the Decorations tab, ready to be claimed, offering a nostalgic nod to one of the game’s most iconic defensive buildings.

The design of the Eagle Monument isn’t a perfect recreation of the original Eagle Artillery, but it clearly draws inspiration from it. While the decoration no longer fires devastating strikes across the battlefield, it stands out as a symbolic reminder of a defense that shaped base layouts and defensive strategies all the way through Town Hall 16.

Why the Change Happened — and Why the Monument Is Limited

The transition from the Eagle Artillery to the Inferno Artillery at TH17 was widely seen as necessary. The Eagle had begun to lose effectiveness at higher Town Hall levels, particularly after TH13 and TH14. The Inferno Artillery provided a more powerful, reliable option that better matched the pace and complexity of late-game attacks.

As for why the decoration is restricted to TH17 and above, the reasoning becomes clear with a bit of thought: placing a monument for the Eagle Artillery in a base where the actual Eagle still exists would feel out of place. Since the building remains active at Town Hall 16 and below, a commemorative statue wouldn’t make much thematic sense.

The Eagle Monument ultimately serves as a respectful tribute for players who advanced beyond the point where the iconic defense was retired—an ornamental reminder of one of the most influential buildings in Clash of Clans history.
