Rockstar Confirms Red Dead Redemption Ports for Modern Platforms — Launch on December 2

Recent rumors about the upcoming ports of the original Red Dead Redemption for modern platforms have been confirmed much faster than expected. Rockstar Games released an official trailer announcing new versions of the iconic game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, as well as mobile devices on iOS and Android.

Release Date — December 2

Both the base game and the fan-favorite expansion Undead Nightmare will launch on this date. Previously, Red Dead Redemption ran on current-gen consoles only through backward compatibility.

Enhancements on PS5 and Xbox Series

The native versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series will offer significantly improved performance and visuals:

  • stable 60 fps;
  • enhanced image quality;
  • HDR support;
  • resolution up to 4K.

Switch 2 Features

The Nintendo Switch 2 version includes:

  • DLSS support;
  • HDR;
  • gyro-based “mouse-style” aiming with Joy-Cons;
  • increased resolution at 60 fps.

Mobile Version and Netflix

Red Dead Redemption will also be available on mobile via the App Store and Google Play. Netflix subscribers will be able to download the game at no extra cost, following the same model as other mobile titles included in the service’s library.

Owners of Red Dead Redemption on previous-generation consoles will be able to upgrade to the native next-gen version for free. Rockstar has also provided a save transfer feature, allowing players to continue their adventure without losing progress.
