Clash of Clans Unveils Massive Town Hall 18 Update: New Guardians, Defenses, and 2025 Launch Window

Supercell is preparing one of the biggest Clash of Clans updates of the year, introducing Town Hall 18 along with major gameplay innovations, balance adjustments, new events, and fresh cosmetic content. While there’s no exact release date yet, the update is expected to arrive late 2025, and many details have already been revealed.

Town Hall 18: What’s New

Town Hall 18 introduces a new visual design with a glowing blue interior, increased storage, and boosted hitpoints. However, the most notable change is that TH18 no longer has a built-in weapon.

• Upgrade cost: 25M Gold
• Hitpoints: 10,800
• Storage: 5M Gold/ 5M Elixir/ 50k Dark Elixir

With the Town Hall losing its defensive weapon, Supercell is introducing an entirely new mechanic: the Guardian System.

Guardian System: A New Defensive Mechanic

At TH18, the Town Hall is protected by two selectable Guardians that take over its defensive role. Players can choose between:

Smasher – the melee Guardian

• Close-range fighter with splash damage
• Attacks ground & air
• Becomes enraged when the Town Hall is destroyed
• Drops a Rage spell on defeat

Longshot – the ranged Guardian

• Long-distance splash damage
• Attacks ground & air
• Explodes on defeat
• Designed to punish clustered armies

Both Guardians have individual upgrade paths, require a Builder, and still defend during Wars and Ranked battles even while upgrading. Their patrol patterns can be viewed by tapping on the Town Hall, helping with precise base-building.

New Defense: Super Wizard Tower

At TH18, two Wizard Towers merge into a new permanent structure — the Super Wizard Tower.It attacks one target and chains damage to up to 15 others, making it extremely effective against swarm attacks.

• Range: 8 tiles
• Max chain: 15 targets
• Two upgrade levels

Equipment and Ore System Changes

Epic equipment drops are expected roughly every two months throughout 2025. Once TH18 launches, Supercell will either introduce new equipment levels or rebalance existing ones.

The ore system is also being updated, with developers acknowledging the current Starry Ore economy isn’t ideal. Improvements may include:

• Star Bonuses awarding Starry Ore
• Special Ore-themed events
• Catch-up mechanics for returning players

Event Updates: Gold Rush & Clan Games

Gold Rush will return 3–4 times a year with new resource themes, such as Elixir or Dark Elixir Rush.

Supercell is also exploring a redesign for Clan Games, potentially adding a clan-wide “bingo board” where completing tasks unlocks larger rewards. Season Challenges may also be made more natural to complete through standard gameplay.

Cosmetics, Chests, and More

Treasure chests have been well received, particularly by free-to-play players. Supercell plans to expand cosmetic offerings with:

• Mythic Hero Skins (with custom animations)
• Troop skins

Defensive skins won’t be added due to clarity concerns.

Super Troops may also be reworked, possibly becoming permanently unlocked at certain Town Hall levels.

Meanwhile, Builder Base and Clan Capital won’t receive updates in the near future, as the focus remains on polishing the Home Village.

Additional Improvements

• Global pricing adjustments and additional payment methods, like UPI in India, are coming to the Supercell Store.
• More collaborations are planned after the success of Haaland and WWE.
• The 13th Clashiversary could be the biggest celebration yet, potentially including free scenery and new Summerjam bonuses.

When Will the Town Hall 18 Update Launch?

While the update is planned for late 2025, the most likely release window is November, similar to Town Hall 17’s rollout.The timing also matches the usual pattern of releasing TH updates after Hammer Jam ends. Early speculation points to November 18, though the final date will depend on the event schedule.
