Sony Unveils a Stunning 27-Inch PlayStation 5 Monitor With Built-In DualSense Charging and 240Hz QHD Display
Sony has officially revealed a brand-new 27-inch gaming monitor developed by PlayStation and tailored specifically for the PlayStation 5. The announcement came near the end of November’s State of Play event, which featured roughly 40 minutes of updates and reveals for both PS5 and PS4.
Highlights From State of Play Japan
The Japanese edition of the showcase focused on upcoming titles from leading Asian studios, including Arc System Works, Bandai Namco, and Koei Tecmo. Among the most notable announcements were the reveal of the Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC, the next closed beta schedule for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, and confirmation that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will launch on March 12, 2026.
PlayStation’s New Monitor: Built for the PS5 Experience
During the broadcast, PlayStation introduced its 27" gaming monitor, which comes equipped with a built-in charging hook for the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers. This retractable hook is located on the back of the display, near the cable ports, and can be neatly stowed away when not in use.
The display itself is a Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 × 1440, a 240Hz refresh rate, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support. It also includes Auto HDR Tone Mapping, a feature that automatically optimizes HDR settings when launching a game on a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Pro. However, when paired with the standard PS5 model, the refresh rate will be capped at 120Hz.
Connectivity and Features
On the rear side, the monitor includes:
- Two HDMI 2.1 inputs (up to 2560×1440, 240Hz, FRL, and VRR support)
- One DisplayPort input (2560×1440, 240Hz, with DSC)
- Two USB Type-A ports
- One USB Type-C port
- Built-in stereo speakers
- A 3.5mm headphone jack
Release Window and Expected Price
According to the PlayStation Blog, the monitor is set to launch in 2026 in both Japan and the United States, though Sony has not yet confirmed its retail price. Comparable models, such as the Samsung Odyssey G6, typically sell for $300–400, while premium OLED displays with similar specs range from $500–700.
For now, PlayStation fans will have to wait for Sony’s official pricing announcement—but it’s clear this new monitor is designed to complement the PS5 experience in both style and performance.
