Genshin Impact Leak Raises Concerns Over Durin’s Kit in Version 6.2
Durin, one of the most anticipated characters in Genshin Impact, has had his kit details leaked ahead of his rumored arrival in Version 6.2, and the news has left many players uneasy. According to leaks shared on Reddit, the character could be saddled with heavy restrictions that tie his potential to the availability of Hexenzirkel members, raising doubts about his viability in most team compositions.
Information gathered by leaker Kokomi and later circulated by Reddit user Archangel-Des-999 indicates that Durin will arrive as a 5-star Pyro sword character. He is reportedly aligned with the Hexenzirkel faction, an association that immediately shapes the structure of his abilities. His Elemental Skill is said to allow him to generate his own Energy while enabling form swaps, drawing comparisons to Chiori’s kit. His Elemental Burst allegedly has two forms: one with larger area coverage but lower multipliers, and another with a smaller AoE but significantly higher damage scaling.
The leaks also describe one of his Passive Talents, which changes depending on his Burst form. In the first, when allies trigger Pyro-related reactions, enemy Elemental Resistance can be reduced by 15%. In the second, Durin gains a 40% boost to Vaporize and Melt damage, with scaling tied to Elemental Mastery. While these effects sound strong, they come with a sharp caveat. If there are two or more Hexenzirkel members in the party, the effects are doubled.
This limitation extends to Durin’s signature weapon. The leaked stats suggest a high base attack of 608 at level 90 and a CRIT Rate sub-stat of 33.1%. However, the weapon’s passive only activates fully when paired with two or more Hexenzirkel characters, creating another restriction on his potential. With the Hexenzirkel roster relatively sparse and not considered especially powerful in the current meta, many players fear the character could feel incomplete without highly specific teammates.
The concern has quickly grown within the community. The Hexenzirkel group includes characters like Mona, Venti, Albedo, Wanderer, and Klee, yet their roles and performance vary widely in the current state of the game. Tying Durin’s power to their presence could mean that his performance falls short unless players own and build those characters, something that may frustrate users who were eager to pull for him.
Durin’s addition comes at a critical time for Genshin Impact. Version 6.0 expanded the world with the introduction of Nod-Krai and brought in Flins, an Electro DPS focused on Lunar-Charged reactions. Durin, as a 5-star Pyro sword user, was expected to bring another strong option to the roster. Instead, the leaked restrictions suggest he may only shine under very particular conditions, which could limit his appeal to the broader player base.
Comparisons have been drawn to other HoYoverse titles, such as Honkai: Star Rail. In that game, certain characters like Evernight thrive when paired with specific team compositions, but the pool of compatible allies is large and varied. For Durin, the Hexenzirkel synergy appears much more narrow, which could prevent him from achieving consistent value outside of niche lineups.
Players now await further testing and potential beta leaks to see if these details hold true. Until then, the discussion around Durin continues to reflect disappointment, especially given how long the community has anticipated his arrival. If HoYoverse sticks to this design, Durin could end up as one of the more polarizing releases in recent memory.
