🗡️ From Ghost of Tsushima to Ghost of Yotei

Sucker Punch Productions struck gold with Ghost of Tsushima, which became the seventh best-selling game of 2020 in the U.S. and remains the studio’s most successful title to date. Given its critical and commercial success, a spiritual successor felt inevitable. Now, Ghost of Yotei is poised to carry that legacy forward, with the camping mechanic being one of its standout new additions.

🔥 Setting Up Camp

According to PlayStation’s latest update, Atsu can establish a campsite anywhere in the wilderness of Ezo, provided her steed is close by. Building a fire won’t be a simple button press—players must master a flint-striking mini-game and carefully blow on the flames to bring them to life.

At a working campfire, Atsu can:

  • Cook food such as fish or mushrooms to gain temporary stat boosts.
  • Craft ammunition for ranged weapons.
  • Play music to enhance immersion and potentially influence interactions.

🤝 Meeting Allies—or Enemies

The camp isn’t just for buffs. As confirmed in July’s State of Play showcase, campfires will act as social hubs. NPCs drawn to the fire might include:

  • Blacksmiths and merchants, offering on-the-spot crafting or supplies.
  • Helpful wanderers, who may gift items or share valuable advice.

However, not all visitors come in peace. The update warns that hostile figures could also approach, meaning players must stay vigilant and be ready to fight—even while resting.

🌌 A Layer of Realism

By blending utility, survival, and social encounters, the camping system adds realism to Atsu’s journey, ensuring that downtime feels meaningful rather than passive. It’s a feature designed to keep players engaged whether they’re preparing for battle, forging connections, or fending off unexpected threats.

⚔️ With just weeks to go before launch, Ghost of Yotei continues to showcase how it will expand upon the foundation built by Ghost of Tsushima while carving out its own identity.
