Why Is Ride Kamens Shutting Down?

In a statement posted on X, the Ride Kamens Management Team explained that the decision was made in order to “focus resources and take on new challenges to deliver content and experiences that everyone can enjoy in more diverse ways.” Essentially, development efforts are being redirected toward new projects.

About the Game

Launched on May 30, 2024, Ride Kamens was a turn-based action RPG and spin-off of the Kamen Rider series created by Shotaro Ishinomori. The game was set in Rainbow City, where players stepped into the role of an Agent. It featured:

  • An original story written by Yuya Takahashi
  • Opportunities to interact with citizens and craft episodic storylines alongside Kamen Riders
  • Turn-based combat with special moves faithful to the franchise’s action-packed style

Next Steps for Players

With the shutdown announcement, the sale of paid Diamonds and shop items has already been suspended. However, players can continue to enjoy the game until the official end-of-service date. Previously purchased items, including paid gacha tickets, can still be used before October 31.

Refund requests for paid content will be available between October 31, 2025, and January 30, 2026.

An Offline Version Will Remain Available

To soften the blow, Bandai Namco confirmed that an offline version of Ride Kamens will be released. Players will be able to transfer their data before the shutdown and switch over after a maintenance update. This offline edition will preserve certain features, allowing fans to continue experiencing parts of the game even after servers go dark.

Community Reaction

While the offline version provides some consolation, many fans expressed disappointment at the game’s short lifespan—barely over a year since launch. Criticism has also surfaced online, with some players claiming that the title “failed because it was aimed at women despite being based on Kamen Rider,” suggesting that it alienated the franchise’s core audience.
