Marvel Rivals Overhauls Mission System Ahead of Season 3 Launch

NetEase Games has announced a major revamp to Marvel Rivals’ mission system as part of its upcoming Season 3 update, set to launch on July 11. The biggest change? Daily missions are being removed, and Chrono Token distribution is being restructured to offer more flexibility and less grind.

🆕 Season 3 Highlights: New Heroes Join the Roster

Season 3 brings two powerful new Duelists to the battlefield:

  • Phoenix (arriving July 11): Inspired by Jean Grey’s Phoenix Force era, this ranged damage dealer will wreak havoc with explosive AoE attacks and high burst potential.
  • Blade (arriving mid-season): While details are scarce, Blade is expected to be a melee Duelist. Gameplay footage hasn’t been shared yet, but anticipation is building.

🔧 Mission System Rework: No More Dailies, Better Weeklies

In Dev. Vision Vol. 7, NetEase revealed the full extent of the mission system overhaul:

  • Daily missions are being removed entirely to streamline progression.
  • Weekly challenges will now carry over week to week, reducing pressure and allowing players more time to complete them.
  • Hero-specific missions are being phased out, replaced by more universal objectives that can be completed regardless of the character you choose.

This update is a direct response to community feedback. Many players disliked having to use specific heroes just to earn Chrono Tokens—the in-game currency tied to battle pass progression. With these changes, Season 3 is expected to feel more rewarding and less restrictive, especially for casual players.

🌌 New Event: Milano Repair Logs & Free Storm Skin

Also arriving with Season 3 is the Milano Repair Logs event. Players will assist the Guardians of the Galaxy in repairing their ship, with rewards along the way. Completing the full event will unlock the Symbiote Storm skin, a unique cosmetic inspired by Storm’s Venomized Variant from the X-Men Prime (2017) comics.

🔮 A Promising Future for Marvel Rivals

Between new heroes, streamlined missions, and special event rewards, NetEase appears committed to evolving Marvel Rivals into a more player-friendly experience. The changes coming in Season 3 aim to reduce grind, expand gameplay variety, and reward commitment without forcing players into narrow playstyles.

With Phoenix leading the charge and Blade waiting in the wings, Marvel Rivals Season 3 looks poised to be its most exciting chapter yet.
