Fortnite Expands Star Wars Universe with New Tools for Creators
Epic Games has announced that its partnership with Star Wars is far from over. In fact, it’s just getting started. Following the recent Galactic Battle mini-season, Fortnite is preparing to bring the galaxy far, far away even closer to players — this time through the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN).
✨ More Star Wars Content Is Coming to Fortnite Creative
During the State of Unreal 2025 presentation on June 3, Epic revealed that creators will soon gain access to official Star Wars assets within UEFN. This will allow fans to craft their own Star Wars-inspired experiences, complete with familiar locations, characters, and stories — all built directly in the Fortnite universe.
While no firm release date has been shared yet, Epic confirmed that the tools are actively in development in partnership with Disney. Once available, creators will have the power to build their own Star Wars maps and narratives — potentially opening the door for new mini-games, cinematic missions, or even player-made campaigns.
🦾 Darth Vader Goes AI-Powered
The Galactic Battle mini-season, which ends on June 7, introduced major additions to the game, including Emperor Palpatine, Mace Windu, and General Grievous. But the most talked-about feature has been the introduction of a fully-voiced AI version of Darth Vader.
Unlike standard NPCs, Vader can engage in full conversations with players, thanks to artificial intelligence technology. He even retains the iconic voice of James Earl Jones, who gave Disney permission to digitally replicate his voice before passing away in September 2024.
However, this has sparked controversy. SAG-AFTRA is now suing Epic Games, claiming a potential breach of agreement over the use of AI-generated voices in Fortnite.
📉 Fortnite’s Player Count Dips, But New Seasons Aim to Reignite Interest
Despite the excitement surrounding Star Wars, Fortnite experienced its lowest player count in two years this past May. While some speculate that the Star Wars-focused content may have alienated non-fans, the dip seems to be part of a larger downward trend in recent months.
Epic is likely hoping that the launch of Chapter 6 Season 3 will reverse that momentum. Leaks suggest the next season could shift themes entirely — potentially featuring a superhero crossover with James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.
🗓 What’s Next for Fortnite Fans?
- June 7 – Galactic Battle mini-season ends
- Coming Soon – Star Wars UEFN tools arrive (date TBA)
- Rumored – Superman crossover for Chapter 6 Season 3
With official Star Wars creation tools, ongoing character additions, and a possible shift toward superheroes in the next season, Fortnite continues to evolve in bold new directions — keeping longtime fans and new players alike intrigued about what's coming next.
