India Selects National Esports Teams for World Esports Championship 2025

India has officially chosen its representatives for the 17th World Esports Championship (WEC 2025) following the conclusion of the NESC25 qualifiers. Victories in Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 have secured Team Qeeyou and Team Avengers their spots on the national stage.

Team Qeeyou Dominates in Counter-Strike 2

The CS2 finals were held on May 28, where Team Qeeyou emerged victorious against Fired Up Gaming in a commanding performance. Qeeyou took the first series with wins of 13-6 on Anubis and 13-7 on Ancient, and then clinched the final reset with another 13-6 on Ancient to seal the deal.

Team Avengers Triumphs in Dota 2

In the Dota 2 bracket, Team Avengers outplayed seven other top Indian squads. In the grand final, they defeated The Mob with a clean 2-0 sweep, earning their place at the WEC.

Road to WEC 2025 Begins

Although the International Esports Federation (IESF) has yet to announce the host city or exact dates for WEC25, the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) has confirmed that national bootcamps and practice sessions will begin soon to prepare both teams for international competition.

Lokesh Suji, director of ESFI, praised the teams, saying:

“It’s heartening to see new blood stepping up and asserting their dominance at NESC 2025. The journey to the World Esports Championship is long and competitive, but these wins reflect the growing maturity and depth of India’s esports talent pool.”

With fresh talent and national support behind them, Team India is set to make a strong showing at the global stage later this year.
